Introduction

1. About our practitioners

Qen's practitioners are trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine. They are not licensed physicians, and they are not licensed by the State of California. The services they provide are alternative or complementary to healing arts services licensed by the state.

2. Their training and qualifications

Every Qen practitioner is a trained Chinese medicine professional.

Each holds a bachelor's degree in Chinese Medicine and a master's degree in a Chinese Medicine specialism, from a university in Hong Kong or mainland China. Each is registered or board certified in Chinese medicine, either as a registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner in Hong Kong or as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Each practises Chinese herbal medicine and has close to ten years or more of clinical experience.

These qualifications are in Chinese medicine. They are not a medical licence, and they are not a licence issued by the State of California.

3. What we do

You complete an intake about yourself and your goals. A practitioner reviews it and decides whether our formulas are a good fit for you. If they are, she personalizes a herbal treatment, which is delivered to you and adjusted over time as you tell us how you are getting on. If they are not, we cancel your order and refund you in full.

4. What it is based on

Traditional Chinese Medicine, a practice developed over centuries which looks at patterns across the whole body rather than at a single concern in isolation, and which uses balanced herbal formulas in which each herb plays a specific role alongside the others.

5. What we do not do

Our practitioners do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or medical condition. They will not tell you to start, stop or change any medication your doctor has given you.

Qen is a wellness service. It is not a substitute for care from a licensed doctor. Please see a doctor about any health concern, and before starting anything new if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, breastfeeding or taking prescription medication.

6. Keeping a copy

We will email you a copy of this notice for your records.

What this exemption does not cover

The exemption does not permit puncturing the skin, prescribing or administering drugs, recommending that someone stop a medication a doctor has given them, holding out as a physician, or wilfully diagnosing and treating a condition in a way that creates a risk of great bodily harm or death. Nothing in the Qen model does any of these, and the Language and SOP Guide is what keeps it that way. This notice protects the model as currently designed. It does not protect a different model.
